The mission of the Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education is to advance the fields of literacy and STEM Education through research, teaching, and outreach collaboratives. The Stevens Center seeks to create more innovative, responsive, and inclusive literacy and STEM learning opportunities for individuals across the lifespan.

The Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education will be led by Director Dr. Julie Barnhart Francis and Faculty Director Dr. Courtney Koestler, who bring decades of experience and expertise in Literacy and STEM Education collaborative projects.

This new center will build on the rich history of the Stevens Literacy Center, established in 1997 by Dr. Edward W. Stevens, Jr., a distinguished professor of history and philosophy of education and the former OHIO Center for Equity in Mathematics and Science.
