Leading Career Conversations: Why Your Role Matters and How to Make It Count
Whether you’re a faculty member, advisor, or staff member, you play a critical role in shaping students’ career readiness and confidence. In this session, we’ll explore why your position matters in the career development journey and how you can seamlessly incorporate career conversations into classroom instruction or academic advising. Walk away with practical strategies, ready-to-use language, and a clearer understanding of how to connect academic experiences to post-graduation pathways—no matter your role.
How We Work with Students: A Brain-Based Approach
This session provides a focused introduction to Brain Based Career Development (BBCD)—an approach that uses neuroscience and cognitive psychology to create meaningful and motivating career conversations. Participants will experience an abridged version of our full BBCD training, learning how to shift from simply giving advice to guiding students through reflection, goal-setting, and action. You’ll walk away with practical tools to help students make decisions and build confidence in their career journeys.
The State of the Job Market: National Trends, Student Outcomes & Implications for Career Support
This session offers a high-level overview of national workforce trends and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ University student outcomes, highlighting in-demand skills, growing industries, and shifts in the labor market. Participants will explore how to use data from sources like the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Gray DI, Vault, and the OHIO Outcomes Dashboard to inform teaching, advising, and program development. Real-world headlines and practical strategies will help you connect students' academic experiences to workforce needs and support equitable career access across campus.
Partnering for Access: Building Your Career Support Toolkit
This session explores how faculty, advisors, and staff can actively partner with Career Services to expand equitable access to career resources and opportunities for all students. Participants will learn about the range of tools, services, and collaborations available to support career readiness across diverse student populations.
