Over the past year, in the midst of everything 2020 threw at us, ĢƵ University embarked on a journey to better articulate our University’s story—our brand.
G. Kenner Bush Jr., an iconic and beloved member of the Athens and ĢƵ University community, passed away at the age of 86 on Feb 28, 2021.
University Libraries will host a workshop on March 25 that will help attendees build their scholarly profile to make their research easier to find.
April 4, 1971, marked the inaugural broadcast of ĢƵ University’s first and only student-run radio network—and the birth of a community of Bobcats bound to one another by a love of music and shared experiences that have enriched campus life and culture.
The coffee still flowed at the Front Room, but, like all campus dining services, for carry-out only. Cardboard cutouts of fans stood in place of loyal Bobcats at games held at Peden Stadium and the Convocation Center. And the word “virtual” became a way of life.
Surinder Amrit S. Bedi, MSISE, remembers going to the ĢƵ University Airport at night, pondering design concepts that would pave the way for the next generation of aviation facilities.

An Asian Indian by birth, Dr. Christine Suniti Bhat, PHD ’03, came to OHIO as an international student, earned her doctorate, and joined the faculty in 2006, serving as a professor of counselor education in the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. She is a licensed professional counselor and a licensed school counselor and a citizen of both Australia and the United States.
For the past nearly 30 years, the University has worked to preserve a storied piece of Athens, American medical and architectural history by investing in The Ridges.
ĢƵ University was the first institution in ĢƵ—and one of the first in the country—to introduce the idea of a four-year flat rate for tuition and fees.
If you’ve ever visited Athens, you know about The Ridges—the former mental health center that has towered above the southern end of campus and community since the 1870s.
This recognition is Classified Senate’s way of awarding those employees who have shown outstanding individual achievement and performance of their jobs.
