Small screen experience in the big world: How the Go OHIO app helps online students stay connected and on track

A tool designed to help ĢƵ University students stay organized, informed, and connected to university resources is taking off with its online student population.
In a recent survey of OHIO Online students, 90% reported that the app made it easy to find the information they needed. 92% said they were likely to recommend the Go OHIO App, the official app of ĢƵ University, to a friend.
These numbers reflect a growing trust in the app as a tool that makes college life easier to manage, particularly among those balancing academic responsibilities with work, family, and other commitments.
Glenn Pace, an OHIO Online student working to complete his MBA, described the app as both convenient and intuitive.
“One of the most useful features has been the ability to access class schedules and course information. Quickly checking the course schedule for upcoming semesters was especially helpful,” said Pace.
Pace also found the Finances feature useful for tracking Corporate Tuition Reimbursement.
“The landing page allowed me to access different areas of the app without needing to log in repeatedly or dig through menus. This quick access to the dashboard made it easy to check financial aid status and grades with just a few clicks,” said Pace.
While Pace said he didn’t use the app daily, he said it became especially valuable at the start and end of each semester.
“It centralized tools I previously had to find across multiple sites, and that integration made a real difference.”
Project Management major Dee Richardson also uses the app regularly, about three to four times per month.
“The main functions I use in the Go OHIO App are my student dashboard and the financial aid tab,” said Richardson. “It allows an easier view of enrollment and class schedule while also showing final grades and easy quick access to GPA as I strive to maintain a high GPA.”
Richardson noted that the app’s design is easy to navigate.
“The setup is simple and straight to the point, allowing you to navigate through the main things needed to monitor your own academic status along with accessing resources.”
What stood out was how the app helped her feel more engaged.
“It almost feels as if I am attending in person instead of online due to the resources and access it allows. I am truly grateful for Go OHIO,” said Richardson.
The Go OHIO App was developed with direct input from students, ensuring it met their priorities and usage habits. That student-centered design led to features like customizable menus, a personalized dashboard, push notifications, and the ability to favorite key pages.
At its core, the app offers centralized access to information that students use often. Students can view course schedules, final grades, GPA, financial aid, account balances (including meal plans and Bobcat Cash), and any account holds or outstanding to-do tasks.
Students can also connect to tools like the university’s email system Catmail, the online learning platform Canvas, and degree audit reporting systems MyOHIO Student Center, and DARS.
Additional features include university libraries, academic calendars, and event listings.
ĢƵ University continues to update the Go OHIO App based on student feedback and changing needs. As mobile access becomes essential, especially for online students, the app is becoming an increasingly vital resource for managing academic and financial information efficiently. By centralizing key resources, Go OHIO supports student success across all campuses and learning formats and will continue to do so for years to come.
