Aviation
Katie Balis

Kate Balis is a fourth-year student at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University, where she is pursuing a dual major in Aviation Flight and Aviation Management, along with minors in Communications and Business Administration. Kate is from Sandyville, West Virginia, a small town across the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ River. Kate's love for aviation began at a young age. At just 14 years old, she took a discovery flight, sparking a love for flying. After soloing at 16, she was "bit by the flying bug" and knew she wanted to make aviation her career.

Kate chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University's flight program because of the supportive faculty and strong sense of community, which has provided her with the perfect environment to grow as both a student and aviator. She is an active member of the university's Women in Aviation chapter, where she has helped with several events such as Girls in Aviation Day and the annual Runway 5K. When she's not out at the airport, Kate enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family.

Industrial and Systems Engineering
Macy Bethel

Hometown: Junction City, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ

Major: Industrial and Systems Engineering

Expected Graduation: Spring 2026

Macy is a senior studying Industrial and Systems Engineering. She chose ISE because of her desire to use mathematics to improve systems and environments. Macy chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University because of its beautiful setting, strong values, and accredited college of engineering.

For the past year, Macy has been an engineering intern for Hollingsworth consulting and has recently begun her journey into research for the ISE department at OU. These opportunities have strengthened her ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and apply ISE concepts in real-world contexts. During her time at OU, she has been part of Tau Beta Pi, the Association of Women in Mathematics, and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.

Outside of class, Macy enjoys spending time with her family and church community. She is passionate about running, staying active, learning, and traveling. 

Aviation
Theo Blundell

Theo Blundell is a senior at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University pursuing a dual major in Aviation Flight and Aviation Management, with minors in Business Administration and Communications. Originally from England, Theo later moved to West Virginia and now resides in Northern Virginia.

At Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University, Theo is actively involved in multiple aviation student organizations, including Alpha Eta Rho, Drone Club, the Flying Bobcats precision flight team, and Women in Aviation. He has attended two Women in Aviation conferences, gaining valuable insight into the aviation industry. In May 2025, Theo competed in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) national competition in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Theo chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University because of the opportunities and structure of the aviation program, as well as the welcoming campus community in Athens. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, and organizing events for student organizations. Theo looks forward to the academic year and continuing to share his passion for aviation.

Engineering and Technology Management
Chase Deering

Expected Graduation: May 2026

Chase Deering is a Senior Engineering Technology & Management student from Athens, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. He has chosen this program to help better the world of manufacturing and to put the passion he has for engineering to use. Being from Athens, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and having family members who are alumni, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University has always been a central part of his life. It made sense to attend as this was always home, and the Russ College was the perfect path to use to keep going forward. Apart from school, Chase is a member of the Moonville Rail Trail Association and an adult leader for his local Scouting America troop.

Engineering Technology and Management
Alex Kellersmith

Hometown: Houston, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ

Expected graduation date: May, 2028

Alex is a junior studying Engineering Technology and Management. Alex grew up on a farm right outside of Lockington, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. He started Kellersmith Farms in 2020 where he grows and sells fruits, vegetables, lavender, and cut flowers. Alex is passionate about sustainability and the environment and hopes to apply what he learns to improve sustainable manufacturing practices. He is currently involved in the Sugar Bush immersion program working to create a startup focused on reducing labor for small farmers. Outside of Russ, Alex is involved in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization as President and in Kappa Alpha Zeta as the recruitment chair. 

Electrical Engineering with Computer Engineering Track
Kyle Levine

Hometown: Hilton Head Island, SC 
Anticipated Graduation: May 2027

Kyle Levine is an Electrical Engineering student at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University on the Computer Engineering track, with a Computer Science minor. He is passionate about the intersection of hardware and software, focusing on solving complex technical challenges and creating efficient, practical solutions. His career goal is to apply this expertise in engineering consulting, helping clients implement innovative hardware-driven solutions.

This past summer, Kyle worked as an Energy and Utilities Analyst Intern at 1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell. In this role, he collaborated with engineers on resilience planning and system modeling projects, gaining firsthand exposure to consulting practices in the utility sector. The experience strengthened his technical problem-solving skills while also giving him insight into how engineering decisions impact large-scale systems and clients.

Beyond academic and professional experience, Kyle enjoys being outdoors. He likes to run, ride his bike, and stay active as a way to recharge outside of school and work.

Mechanical Engineering
Dani Musi

Dani Musi is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, with aspirations to pursue a graduate degree in biomedical or materials engineering. Her ultimate goal is to build a career in research and development, where she can contribute to cutting-edge advancements in her field.

Dani has completed two internships at Parker Hannifin Aerospace in Mentor, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, where she gained hands-on experience as a quality and manufacturing engineer. She played a key role in NADCAP audits, contributed to statistical process control projects, and worked to improve overall manufacturing efficiency. Currently, she is seeking a summer research experience focused on materials science, preparing for her graduation in Spring 2026.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dani is a dedicated Mechanical Engineering Learning Community Leader, guiding first-year students as they navigate their transition into college life. Outside the classroom, she enjoys staying active through lifting and running, reading, and spending quality time with friends.

Electrical Engineering with Computer Engineering Track
Karli Nadsady

Karli Nadsady is a senior in Electrical Engineering on the Computer Engineering track. She is from Hudson, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. Her decision to go to Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University was mostly influenced by the beautiful campus and welcoming atmosphere, but her family full of Bobcats was certainly supportive.

As well as being the Events Coordinator for the Engineering Ambassadors, she is the Community Involvement chair for 4 Paws and a member of Bobcat Baja. Last fall she studied abroad in Ireland at the beautiful University of Galway, and last summer she interned at General Dynamics Electric Boat. After obtaining her Bachelor’s, she aspires to pursue some form of graduate degree.

In Karli’s free time she loves singing and reading. Back home, she works for a local independent bookstore in Hudson called The Learned Owl Book Shop. She also loves taking her dog, Piper, for walks around Athens. Ultimately, her favorite way to wind down is by puppy snuggles.

Computer Science
Megan Penn

Hometown: Granville, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ

Expected Graduation: Spring 2027

Megan Penn is a Junior Computer Science student from Granville, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. Born and raised in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, she chose to go to Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University to stay close to family while pursuing an education at one of the most well-connected, welcoming, and beautiful schools in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. In her time at OU so far, Megan has interned with the non-profit Girls Who Code, designed multiple web-based applications and websites, and developed a video game from scratch. Between classes, she works for Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University’s Undergraduate Admissions as a tour guide where she connects with prospective students and shows off all that makes this institution special. Additionally, she is a volunteer tutor for high school students in both English and math.

In her free time, you can find Megan spending time with friends and family, trying out a new cookbook, playing cozy video games, or listening to music. She also frequents the dog park with her sister’s dog, Bean, and continues to foster her love of art through drawing and painting. This year, she is looking forward to continuing her professional development and soaking up fun memories with friends. 

Aviation
Mia Pittaway

Mia Pittaway is a senior, dual majoring in Aviation Flight and Management. She has her Private Pilot certificate and is working on adding an instrument rating. She is the President of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University’s chapter of Women in Aviation, the President and Co-Founder of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University Club Gymnastics team, and a member of the Aviation Fraternity Alpha Eta Rho. She also works at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University Airport as a Dispatcher and is the Social Media and Website Coordinator for the Department of Aviation. Mia has a passion for inspiring young girls to become pilots and raise the percentage of Women in Aviation. She picked Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University because she is an Athens Local and grew up rooting for the Bobcats!

Computer Science
Kylie Roenigk

Kylie Roenigk is a Computer Science student at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University with strong interests in full-stack development, data science, and the ethical use of AI. She is motivated by the challenge of creating technology that is both practical and impactful, and she values opportunities to solve problems through innovative design. Her career goal is to work internationally in the technology sector, combining technical expertise with cross-cultural experiences.

Kylie has gained professional experience as a Software Engineering Intern with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University’s Office of Information Technology, where she contributed to enterprise-level web applications, and as a Technology Intern at Woodridge Local Schools, where she supported district-wide technology initiatives. She also maintains a personal portfolio highlighting her projects and professional growth.

Outside of academics, Kylie enjoys cooking, traveling, and taking on personal projects that expand her skills. She is passionate about continuous learning, maintaining balance, and using technology to make a meaningful difference.

Civil Engineering
Will Schaefer

Hello, my name is Will Schaefer, and I am a senior civil engineering student expecting to graduate in May 2026. I chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University due to the beautiful campus and smaller engineering college and have not regretted my decision at all! Inside civil engineering I am focusing on construction management. I have completed three co-op rotations with Danis Construction doing a variety of tasks including labor, office work, and surveying. Upon graduating in May, I will begin my career at Danis as a field engineer. 

Electrical Engineering
Alec Sebrell

Alec Sebrell is a senior electrical engineering student from Massillon, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, just west of Canton. Exposure to STEM clubs and activities during middle school set him on the path of engineering that brought him to OHIO. He chose OHIO because of its status as an R1 research university and because of the vast alumni network that can provide connections and opportunities.

During his time at OHIO, Alec has had many opportunities including getting involved with research, a summer internship, and involvement in multiple student orgs. He does research with the Mechanical Behavior of Materials Group as a testing engineer with the goal of working up to circuit board design for data acquisition. His summer internship was at Marathon Petroleum’s Canton refinery as a reliability engineer, which provided him with experience in the refining industry.

Alec is also a member of the engineering ambassadors, IEEE, and is the president of Bobcat Baja. Being the president of a student organization allowed him to learn and grow his leadership and management skills. Outside of classes and clubs, he also enjoys repairing guitars and learning music.

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Noah Stauffer

Noah Stauffer is a junior Chemical Engineering major from Columbus, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. He grew up visiting Athens with his family who are alumni and quickly realized how much Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University has to offer.

In addition to Chemical Engineering, Noah is also enrolled in the Biomedical Engineering 4+1 program and has hopes to graduate with a master’s degree in Spring 2028. With this, he plans to work in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development of new drugs.

On campus, Noah stays active within the Russ College as being Treasurer of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and a member of Tau Beta Pi: Honors Engineering Society.  He is also a current Undergraduate Research Assistant alongside Dr. Sharma studying how surfactant molecules interact with spherical nanoparticles.

Outside of the classroom, Noah loves to spend time outdoors fishing, golfing and hiking. His favorite thing to do is travel and explore new places, especially with his family and friends he made at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University.

Engineering Technology and Management
Ted Thompson

Hometown: Tipp City, OH

Expected Graduation: May 2027

Ted is a junior Engineering Technology and Management student from Tipp City, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. He chose Engineering Technology and Management because of his passion for engineering and the hands-on experience the program provides. He chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University for its exciting Engineering Technology and Management program and its beautiful location in southeast Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

Ted completed an internship during the summer of 2025 with CareSource as a Continuous Improvement Intern, where he gained valuable experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, helping the company improve its data management process.

Outside of class, Ted is a big sports fan, supporting the Buffalo Bills and Chelsea Football Club. He is also an avid lifter and runner who enjoys staying active and spending time with his friends and family.

Mechanical Engineering
Isabella Tucker

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Graduating Spring 2026

Isabella Tucker is a senior studying Mechanical Engineering with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. She enjoys attending Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University not only because of the location, but also because of the amazing people she has met within the community here.

After graduation, Isabella plans to work as a process engineer within the agricultural industry.

Besides serving as an Engineering Ambassador,  Isabella is an active member in the Society of Women Engineers organization. She currently works as a Teaching Assistant for ET 2300 Principles of Materials, and previously worked as a student lab assistant for the Mechanical Engineering department. She is also completing a research-based project that focuses on understanding how the weather and climate are affecting small-scale farms in Southeastern Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

Outside of classes and extracurriculars, Isabella enjoys baking, being outdoors and is often mountain biking or hiking the trails local to Athens. 

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Emerson Wells

Hometown: Granville, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ

Expected Graduation: May 2027

Emerson is a junior Chemical Engineering student from Granville, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. She chose Chemical Engineering because of her love of chemistry and interest in learning more about the biological applications of Chemical Engineering. Emerson has a lifelong love of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University from many visits with her parents and sister who are all Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University graduates. She chose to attend OHIO because of her time here in the past and has found a strong sense of community with the connections made at Russ College.

Outside of school, Emerson is a member of multiple student organizations. She is a member of the Alden Book Club, and an avid member of Younglife. In her free time, Emerson is happiest spending time with her family and friends, time outside and reading. 

Energy Engineering
Elle Whelan

Major: Energy Engineering

Graduating Spring 2026

Elle Whelan is a senior studying Energy Engineering. She chose OU based on her choice of major as it is the only college in the state with Energy Engineering. She hopes to one day help to improve and expand the use of renewable energy. She is passionate about improving the environment and preserving it for future generations.

In the past summers Elle has interned for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Department of Natural Resources and Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant. These experiences have furthered her interest in energy and the environment. During her time at OU she has been a part of the sustainability infrastructure hub, Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and serves as an executive board member for the Society of Women in Engineering. She is currently working for the Institute of Sustainable Energy and the Environment.

Outside of engineering Elle enjoys spending time outside, rollerblading, and spending quality time with friends and family. Her favorite places at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University are the Ridges and surrounding trails.

Civil Engineering
Abigail Whitman

Hometown: Worthington, OH

Major: Civil Engineering

Graduating: Fall 26

Abigail is a junior in Civil Engineering. She is currently from the Columbus area, but she has also lived all over California. Her father inspired her to choose civil engineering, as she has been surrounded by the field from a young age.

Over the past two summers, Abigail has interned in tunneling, working for Frontier Kemper and Obayashi. She worked in LA as a Heading Engineer on the 2028 Olympics Metro Line and in Westerville as a Tunnel Surveyor on a wastewater line. Her experience has confirmed her desire to work in tunneling after graduation. She currently runs the Surveying Team at OU and takes part in ASCE and Concrete Canoe.

Outside of engineering, Abigail hikes, reads, skates, and sews. She is also very involved in the Athens Catholic community. She especially likes to spend her time hanging out with her friends.

Industrial and Systems Engineering
Andy Wildman

Andy Wildman is a current senior studying Industrial and Systems Engineering. He chose Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University because of the scenic campus, and his parents are OHIO graduates as well. He hopes to one day improve the value of humans’ impact on our world’s future. He is passionate about using his degree to help as many people as he can, making an impact locally and beyond.

This past summer, Andy interned with the ASCENT program, which is sponsored by Intel, here at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University. These experiences have helped shape his perspective and goals and his future plans in ISE. During his time at OHIO, he has been a member of Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the Great Lakes Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering Conference Planning Committee, and the Marching 110 Band.

Outside of engineering, Andy enjoys hanging out with friends, playing the drums, traveling, and listening to music. His favorite places at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University are Peden Stadium on game day and late nights in the ISE Lab.
