Nomination: He developed an online Performing Arts Medicine certificate program while also leading a search committee, serving on another, and revising our department’s promotion, promotion/tenure policies.

Department of Exercise Physiology

Trina Bookman

Nomination: Trina has been a faculty member in the Exercise Physiology Department for over 25 years. She has never been recognized for her years of service. She teaches the First Aid/CPR courses for not only our department, but for students around the entire campus. She has also taught swimming and lifeguarding courses. She coordinates the schedule of the First Aid/CPR courses and the graduate students who help to teach the courses. This requires many hours of teaching and coordination, and deserves to be recognized for her efforts.

Jim Montgomery

Nomination: Jim Montgomery, Professor of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences, is the epitome of what it means to be a true scholar, a mentor, and an engaged and dynamic colleague who genuinely cares about the unit and everyone’s advancement and success. His impact on HSLS is indelible, particularly in the many ways he has brought distinction to Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University through his research and grant funding, including his recent multi-million dollar, multisite NIH grant on “Treating Complex Sentences in Children with DLD.

Nomination: Chris Gabriel has been the administrative specialist for the Department of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences since May 2022. Chris has accomplished a great deal since that time. Her support of faculty, staff, and student requests is noteworthy and she ensures that our front office operates smoothly and efficiently. Chris does everything with a smile and exhibits an authentic, welcoming, and positive demeanor with everyone.

Molly Johnson

Nomination: Molly works tirelessly to ensure that our SON is compliant with our accreditation and OBN regulations. She consistently steps up to take on tasks and projects that provide critical resources for faculty. She is an extremely caring and supportive faculty and Project Chair for her graduate students. She provides kind and supportive mentoring for new faculty. She is such an integral part of the success that the SON has actualized at every program level.

Nomination:  Kara has been in her role for a little less than 2 years and took over the role from a very experienced and highly effective person. She has far exceeded all expectations I would have had for a new person over the past 18 months. She has identified multiple processes with opportunities for efficiencies and implemented those. She is a consistently caring and positive team member who encouraged both her peers and her supervisors. I have had multiple faculty and other staff who reach out to me specifically to mention how responsive and helpful Kara has been to them on a variety of projects or tasks.

Kristin Lugo

Nomination: I nominate Kristin Lugo, PharmD, Assistant Clinical Professor, Director of Clinical Education and MaryBeth Hughes, Clinical Education Coordinator.  Kristin, having served in this role for over 10 years, is dedicated and passionate about ensuring the PA students have exceptional clinical experiences.  She is strategic in clinical placements and works tirelessly with not only our current clinical partners, but also in identifying new clinical education opportunities.  In addition to this massive workload, she balances the administrative responsibilities associated with each clinical rotation for every student, while teaching pharmacology in the program.

MaryBeth Hughes

Nomination: MaryBeth has served as the Clinical Education Coordinator for 6 years.  MaryBeth consistently goes above and beyond to support the students, faculty, and clinical team throughout the clinical year by managing schedules, coordinating communication, and managing all of the clinical year data, which is not an easy task.

Kelly Nottingham

Nomination: Kelly Nottingham is stepping into the role as the coordinator of the MPH program, is leading the search for a replacement instructional faculty member in public health, has helped reinvigorate the public health student group, and continues to maintain high quality teaching and several research projects. She does all of her work with enthusiasm and optimism and I am so grateful that she is part of DSPH.

Nomination: Joyce has quickly learned how to manage multiple financial and administrative systems. She is an expert planner and organizer and makes sure that faculty stay on top of deadlines. She is a true problem-solver and is also dedicated to promoting the department. We would be lost without her.

Nomination: I would like to nominate Justin Wheeler. Justin provided outstanding service to the department, supporting the Great Minds Fellowship, in addition to helping with student events and social work month celebrations.

Nomination: Sarah Taylor celebrates 20 years as a clinical supervisor of speech-language pathology in our Hearing, Speech and Language Clinic. Recently, Sarah assumed the role of Director of Clinical Education for Speech-Language Pathology and she is being recognized for her excellence and persistence in securing strong externship experiences for our MA SLP students. Sarah’s tireless efforts, loyalty, and dedication to our department, her colleagues, and her mentorship and support of our MA SLP students are very much valued and appreciated!

Nomination: Cassie serves as one of our Kids on Campus Site Leaders and plays a vital role in supporting both our program and the department. She contributes significantly to the smooth operation of our initiatives and takes the lead in organizing the Tech Savvy event in collaboration with Sarah Wyatt. Her dedication and efforts are truly invaluable—we would be lost without her.

Nomination: He is our licensed massage therapist and has gone above and beyond, not only doing his job at WellWorks, but travels to departments for chair massages and worked with OHIO athletics to provide massages to the volleyball team as a part of their recovery.  /wellworks/massage
