Dean's Leadership Council

The Dean's Leadership Council is a group of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University College of Arts and Sciences alumni and friends who represent the wide range of academic and professional experiences influenced by their time at the college. Invited by the Dean, this council holds the highest volunteer role in the college.

Roles and Responsibilities

Council members have several key roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic insight: Share perspectives and help shape the vision for the college's long-term projects and the Dean's priorities.
  • Be a college champion: Advocate for the college and its mission within personal and professional networks.
  • Identify opportunities: Find ways for networks to engage with college students, faculty, and staff through volunteer, experiential learning, and philanthropic activities.
  • Create engagement opportunities: Organize events for alumni and friends of the college to connect with the council.
  • Offer perspectives: Share attitudes and viewpoints about the college from outside the Athens, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ area.
  • Commit to giving: Make an annual gift to an area of the college that aligns with personal interests or where they want to make the most impact.
  • Attend meetings: Participate in semi-annual meetings on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ University-Main Campus in Athens, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, and attend special university events.
  • Help identify new members: Serve a full term and assist in identifying others who could be considered for the council.

The college's scholarly work generates knowledge, forms the foundation of its undergraduate and graduate programs, and engages all students and faculty in a culture of exploration.
